
David Kaplan joined Blumenfeld Development Group as general counsel and vice president in 1998. He overseas all legal matters at BDG and specializes in real estate transaction matters, including acquisitions, leasing, and financing. Kaplan works closely with the BDG development team in structuring transactions and often works with outside counsel in order to bring projects to completion. Representative transactions which he has successfully negotiated include office leases with British Airways and Visiting Nurse Services of New York and retail leases with Best Buy and Home Depot, acquisitions with the New York City Economic Development Corporation and permanent and construction loan financings with the New York State Common Retirement Fund, Bank of America, and numerous life insurance companies.
Prior to joining BDG, Kaplan was associated with the law firm of Queler & Kaplan, LLP, where he represented BDG and other commercial real estate developers, and White & Case, where he specialized in equipment leasing and corporate finance. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association. Kaplan has lectured on real estate law and participates annually in the law conference of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is a 1986 graduate of Colgate University and a 1989 graduate of Fordham Law School.
